Casino Prince Takes Honours At Newcastle

The light was shining brightly on Casino Prince, with a well deserved Group 3 winning double at Newcastle over the past week.

Hooked fired the first shot for his sire, Casino Prince, when he led from barrier to box winning the time honoured Group 3 Cameron Handicap.

The double was completed when the mare, Fine Bubbles, put paid to a handy field in the Tibbie Stakes Group 3, on the second day of the two day Cup carnival.

Casino Prince is covering his second book of mares since arriving at Vinery in mid last year.

He proved to be a good racehorse with a great pedigree, he is doing the job, the Newcastle double gave him his eighth Stakes winner.

While Fine Bubbles win has done her no harm either, she was a $105,000 yearling at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sales, her total prize money earnings has since soared beyond $250,000.

Congrats - Travelling Well Stateside

Congrats, the Vinery shuttler, is making news stateside with an impressive draft of 60 yearlings on show for the annual Keeneland September yearling sales, in Kentucky.

Studs are always looking for winners, but in particular at sale time, when the yearlings by the leading sires are being showcased to prospective buyers.

The progeny of Congrats are certain to be popular again this year; he has a remarkable winner to runner’s ratio.

He commenced his stud career in Florida, his first crop numbered 114 foals, from 91 to race 81 were winners, giving him 82 % winners to runners.

When the Florida Stud closed he was moved to Kentucky where his second crop numbered 82 foals, 56 raced, 46 were winners, his strike rate was 82 %, and a Group1 in that crop.

The popularity for Congrats continues, he has covered more mares that any other U S stallion.

First Foal At Vinery Claims Attention

The first foal of the season was not short of admirers on the open day at Vinery.

This was the one the staff were waiting for, the first foal of All Too Hard, multiple Group 1 winning sire.

A good reason for the corks to begin popping as this proud little fellow strutted his stuff on the catwalk at Vinery, he completely stole the show, and furthermore, he was fully aware of what was taking place.

He is bred to royalty in the equine world being by a Group 1 winning sire, while his mum, Allez Wonder, was successful in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap.

More Than Ready was there among the winners at Canterbury on Wednesday with a double via Eyre, trained by the Hawkes team, while Clarrie Connors put the polish on This Is Australia for John Singleton.

Eyre is quite a valuable filly being out of Zyoon, from Shoal Creek, a half sister to Encosta de Lago, and closely related to Flying Spur, makes her a very valuable filly, she can win again.

This Is Australia was impressive, leading all the way, we will hear more from him, he has a touch of class.

While Theatreman was flying the flag for his sire, Mossman, at Sandown, his 2013-14 season was his best on record and is still a much sought after sire.

Vinery Among The Winners

Euro Charline was the toast of Chicago last weekend when she became the first filly in history to win the prestigious Group1 Beverley D Stakes on the Arlington Circuit.

The filly was flown in from Newmarket UK by Marco Botti, to lay the gauntlet down to the cream of American mares in training at this time of the year.

The success of the filly has great significance to our local breeders here as she is by Myboycharlie, among the resident sires at Vinery.

Euro Charline is out of Eurolink Artemis, by Common Grounds, who at one stage of his career saw service here in Australia.

The filly will remain in America where she is owned by Barry Irwin, and will be trained in future by Todd Pletcher, her passage is booked for Santa Anita in November, her mission the Group 1Breeders Cup for fillies and mares.

While Myboycharlie is adding to his credits in far off Chicago, Casino Prince was flying the flag at Caulfield with Star Rolling, winning the Peter Lawrence Stakes at W F A.

And Testa Rossa was back in the act when his daughter, Samartested, graduated from Geelong to Sandown winning over 1400 metres, she is a half sister to the Blue Diamond success, Samaready.

Big Guns Firing At Vinery

Vinery have experienced a remarkable season in 2013-14 with the big guns, More Than Ready, Mossman and Testa Rossa, have all had a rewarding season, each exceeding the magical ton of winners.

More Than Ready, foaled in1997, has been the model of consistency with 149 winners for the season, he has got away to a brilliant start in the new season when former Golden Slipper winner, Phelan Ready, saluted the judge at Eagle Farm.

Across the Nullabor, in Perth, the son of Southern Halo was striking gold again when Galaxy Prince scored in the opening event on the card, and Testa Rossa got into the act when Angel Rose scored on the same program.

Backbone winning on successive weeks at Flemington, and Moonee Valley, illustrated the versatility of Mossman as a sire.

The new season has commenced in sparkling fashion for Vinery with Pienko. winning at Eagle Farm. a two state double for Casino Prince, and first starter. Testafly. kept the light shining on her sire, Testa Rossa, in winning at Newcastle.
