Blue Diamond Stakes success, Samaready, is in foal to Vinery’s resident sire, All Too Hard, whether the result is a colt or a filly, it will be looked upon with great anticipation as both sire and dam were Group 1 winners.

Sure, it is all a part of the glorious uncertainty of breeding, youth is a very important factor, a great exponent of that formula was David Hains, a private breeder, most of his successful race mares were retired when they turned four year old.

Samaready was clearly among the best fillies of her year; she won six races in all and was carefully placed.

Stakes Winner For Onemorenomore

Vinery’s recent acquisition, Onemorenomore, who formerly stood at Patinack, achieved his first stakes winner, Onemorezeta, who gave a polished display in winning the Group 3 Gucci Stakes.

She is a filly with a lot of potential; she graduated from a maiden win two starts ago at Muswellbrook, from there a mid weeker at Warwick Farm, from there a Group 3 at Flemington.

She has met the challenge each time the bar has been raised, with natural improvement a Group1 may not be that far away.

Congrats Still Makes News Stateside

Racehorse trainers have been known to dream, in fact it happens often, that colt back in the box might just be the ticket to easy street.

After Toasting Master, by Congrats, won a maiden race by four lengths at Churchill Downs recently, his trainer, Dale Romans, began dreaming we could come back again in May, for more prize money of course.

His rider, Miguel Mena, is also looking ahead; he has quite a wrap on the son of Congrats, believing he will get further.

Toasting Master was purchased as a yearling by West Point Thoroughbreds for $220,000, based mainly on his relationship, being a three quarter brother to R Gypsy Gold and a half brother to the 2012 Kentucky Oaks runner up, also Broadway Alibi and Group winner Golden Lad.

Congrats is third on the North American two year old sire’s premiership, with 14 individual winners earning $1.60 million in prize money.

Dothraki Weighted Out Of Races

Dothraki, the brilliant sprinting son of Mossman, may have to look at greener pastures after having to shoulder 60kg in winning the Celebrations Handicap at Rosehill recently.

It is obvious he is a smart horse, however, the rise in weight appears to be a bit sudden as his winning strike rate is just 25 per cent.

He may be seen in Melbourne shortly, his trainer, Gerald Ryan, has often brought down a horse or two in the off season, mainly sprinters and seldom leaves empty handed.

Dothraki is pretty handy and is likely to be treated more leniently, weight wise, than he has been in Sydney where he is trained.

Big Brown, who won two legs of the American Triple Crown, and seven of his eight starts, is still making news for the right reasons, he is still siring winners.

Royal Randwick was the first leg of a double over the past week when Muscovado won over 1600 metres, a strong indication suggesting his progeny will be well suited over a middle distance at least.

The double was completed when the Alan Denham trained, Big On Fame, started a warm favourite when he put paid to a handy field at Muswellbrook.

Results continued for Vinery at the Hunter Valley course when Dubleo entered the fray, siring Pantops who showed a touch of class in winning over 1000 metres.

Dubleo is by Southern Halo, he is also the sire of Vinery’s multimillion dollar earner, More Than Ready.

Unbeaten colt, Daredevil, by More Than Ready, dominates betting for the Breeders Cup Juvenile after his impressive win in the Group1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont.

He is obviously a class act, he handled the 1600 metres with ease winning by two lengths, and the margin could have been extended had his rider desired.

Winning jockey, Javier Castellano, was full of praise for Daredevil, describing the colt as a special horse with loads of ability.

Daredevil, by More Than Ready, is out of Chasethewildwind by Forty Niner, he opened his winning account with a six length romp at Belmont Park in mid September, he will join stablemate, Carpe Diem, on the trip west to Santa Anita for the Breeders Cup.

Kentucky Derby winner, Big Brown, has a pretty handy filly obviously in Puca, a recent two year old who displayed an amazing turn of foot to win by 16.5 lengths in New York.

While Puca could be something out of the ordinary, Red Sashay, also by Big Brown, was also impressive providing her sire with his 11^th stakes winner at Gulfstream Park.

“Big Brown is really starting to make a great impact world wide,”said Vinery’s Adam White.  

Winners came in rapid succession for Vinery yesterday, at Canterbury Park, when Golden Aro started favourite in winning, by a wide margin, putting another winner on the board for his sire, More Than Ready.

More Than Ready is a remarkable sire, one in a lifetime, siring 1625 runners for 1184 winners, returning in excess of $126 million in prize money, with 128 stakes winners to his credit list.

He almost has as many flyer points up as he has winners, having crossed the Pacific 27 times on the shuttle service, between Vinery in the U S, and Vinery in the Hunter Valley.

Myboycharlie was among the successful sires also at Canterbury Park when his daughter, Artistic Lass, put a space in the opposition to win the 1900 metres of the Ranvet Handicap.

She is out of a good family, there is quite some residual value there being a half sister to Sistine Demon, whilst her grand dam, Rancheetah, trained by the late Geoff Murphy, won eight city races and left five winning foals.

No time is wasted at Vinery after Samaready missed a place in the Group3 How Now Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday week; she was covered the following Wednesday evening by All Too Hard.

Whilst there was a possible reason for her defeat at Caulfield, as she cast a shoe, also had she raced the possibility of an early foal could have been jeopardised.

“All Too Hard’s first crop of foals are exceptional, it’s a perfect mating, Samaready was a high class filly, “said Vinery’s Manager, Peter Orton.

Samaready was the best two year old filly of her year, winning the Blue Diamond Stakes Group1, she returned from injury to win the Moir Stakes, also at Group1 level, in all she won six races from 13 starts with $1.67 million in stakes earnings.

All Too Hard is getting the opportunity his race ability and pedigree deserve, he has a superb book of mares awaiting him again in his second season.

Hence the support has continued on from last season when he covered 18 Group 1 winning mares, and the dams of 12 Group 1 winners.

Three of the leading fillies on Timeform ratings Samaready on (123), Snitzerland on (118), have both been covered, while Hussousa (114), the Gimcrack Stakes winner, delivered her first foal in August by More Than Ready, all will be covered by All Too Hard.

Buffering Wins Fourth Group 1

There were accolades a plenty after Buffering’s Group1 success in the Group 1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

That was the fourth Group1 win for the son of Mossman, a proven acquisition for Vinery since coming down from Queensland.

Mossman has certainly blossomed since his arrival in the Hunter Valley where he is quite a popular sire, as results have shown.

Congrats Two Year Olds Impressive

Results out of the U S of late are looking good for Congrats, with his first Australian crop to commence racing in the coming weeks

Congrats, by A P Indy, entered stud in the U S in 2007, he has since sired winners over of $13million with his two year olds this season looking rather good.

Temper Mint Patty, a filly, ventured up to Belmont last week, putting away a handy field by an astonishing 13 lengths.

The win came off her race debut, in a Maiden race at Saratoga, in which she won by five lengths.

Temper Mint Patty engaged next week end in the Listed Joseph Gimma Stakes at $150,000.

The long range plans are for the filly to go off to Kentucky for the Oaks in May of next year.
