Casino Prince among the winners

Casino Prince was among the winning sires at Rosehill, when Timeless Prince and Transonic credited him with a running double.

This will be his second stud season at Vinery after having being relocated from Patinack at the beginning of last season.

Casino Prince is quite a handsome horse with a great deal of appeal, he has now joined his son, All Too Hard, on the Vinery sire’s roster.

He is getting winners when it really counts, a time when breeders are beginning to consider the selection of a sire for their mares.

Casino Prince is the most successful sire son of Flying Spur, a very good horse, he won the races that really counted, the Golden Slipper Stakes, Australian Guineas and the All Aged Stakes, in all he won five Group races among his six wins.

Whilst Casino Prince hasn’t inherited the success of his sire, they rarely do, he is consistently chipping away steadily with prize money approaching $9 million.

It’s All Happening At Scone

Scone, the horse capitol of Australia, is playing host to racing and breeding buffs this week–end.

With record stakes distribution of $1.330 million Scone is firmly entrenched among the richest race meetings outside of a capitol city.

Broodmare owners will be offered the cream of the bloodstock world with the parade of stallions each day at Vinery Stud, with the exception of champion sire, More Than Ready, who is winding up his Northern Hemisphere commitments.

Ballydoyle trainer, Aidan O’Brian, has ambitious plans for More Than Ready’s star U S performer Verrazano, who makes his English debut in the Group1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury tomorrow, his principle mission being the Group1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in mid June .

In his absence the following Vinery sires to be paraded include the outstanding three year old of 2012 -13racing season All Too Hard, he is approaching his second season at stud, Mossman, he has had an amazing year with the evergreen Testa Rossa, Breeders Cup Juvenile success Pluck , Husson, Onemorenomore, Dubleo, Excites and Casino Prince.

The Testa Rossa filly, Twilight Royale, is the only horse eligible for almost $2.65 million in bonuses and prizemoney if she wins the $400,000 Inglis Scone Guineas over 1400 metres.

Big Brown Salutes At Rosehill Gardens

Brown Bomber scored a knock out for his sire, Big Brown, winning in great style over 1800 metres at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

With the two year old season beginning to close the Sydney juvenile races are being stretched out further in distance, it caters more for the later maturing juveniles that may develop into staying types.

Melbourne race clubs have a different view, young horses are not encouraged to the same extent, there are far too many races got up for squibs.

Big Brown is a Kentucky Derby winner, he also won the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico in Maryland, both are legs of the Triple Crown, and at Group1 level, generally won by the proven staying horses.

His race record is sound, he only contested the better races of his age group, winning seven of his eight starts, he was the champion of his season.

His oldest progeny here are two years olds, whereas in the U S he has three year olds with an impressive winning strike rate of 50 per cent.

Brown Bomber showed the qualities of a stayer, he came into the race nicely, drawing away to win with a bit in hand.

Another Stakes Winner For Mossman

Mossman, the quite achiever, gets the job done with a minimum of fuss, accolades come seldom, winners come often.

Among the latest winners for Mossman was the Stakes success Dothraki, he put paid to a handy field in the Gold Coast Guineas.

There was a lot to like about the win of Rileme during the week at Seymour also, he was the debutant of the field, after beginning well he led all the way to win impressively.

He is another Mossman with a future on what we saw; he will ultimately reach city class.

More Than Ready just keeps keeping on, his list of winners stretches to many parts of the world and no more so than in Australia; his success rate has been remarkable.

Two winners this week, Next Level at Warwick Farm and Vintage Drop, wearing the green, white V at Sandown Park.

Ultimately Vintage Drop will be retired to the paddocks at Vinery in the Hunter Valley, she has an excellent pedigree, plus a sound future as a brood mare.

Vinery’s Pride and Joy

More Than Ready, the perennial son of Southern Halo, scaled to new heights over the week end when his daughter, More For Me, a first starter won at Sandown Park, recording for her sire his 3248th winner worldwide.

Besides More For Me’s success at Sandown, Nicamorae won in hollow fashion at Flemington, giving the Vinery Stud based sire a winning double.

More Than Ready is a world renowned success with his progeny winning in 23 different countries, with 246 Stakes winners accumulating $122,471,908 in prize money.

He is by far the highest progeny earner ever to stand in the southern hemisphere, with the exception of Danehill.

Now approaching his 13th season at Vinery his services continue to be in great demand, his popularity has not waned.

More Than Ready was endowed with a great turn of foot that saw him win seven races in the best of company, all were Stakes races.

He is leaving rather nice fillies, two in particular, Nicamorae is out of Nicola Lass, who proved quite a handy filly, in all she won seven quality races, she left seven foals for six winners, among which included Nicconi, a brilliant sprinter, among his wins were the Galaxy at Randwick, and Lightning Stakes at Flemington.

Nicamorae has been nursed along quietly by David Hayes, he is giving her every chance, and she is now a city winner thus has enhanced her value as a future broodmare.

Nicamorae by More Than Ready

More For Me, a first starter, hit the line hard at Sandown to win the Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap impressively.

There was no fluke about her win she finished her race off nicely, suggesting that is not the conclusion to her winning sequence.

She is out of the Danehill mare, Langness from Isca, a great race filly, she always saved her best for Flemington and the straight six, with her two Group1 wins the Lightning Stakes and the Newmarket Handicap.
