Love Conquers All spent most of his years in the northern state, where he has proved to be a successful source of winning progeny. He is a welcomed addition to the stallion ranks in Victoria, his service fee is an attractive $8,800, he should be well supported. He was more than a handy sprinter in Sydney where he won 8 races to Group 2, he has been a prominent sire, whilst in Queensland he does have quite a good winning strike rate. He came under the radar early last week when siring a winner bearing the name of All Love, winning a race on the Sunshine Coast, which possibly went unnoticed. The original All Love was a champion; she raced in the early years of the war, when racing was restricted. For reasons unbeknown Bel Esprit has never been afforded the credits he is entitled to, although he won a Blue Diamond Stakes and returned to win a Group 1 race and sired a Champion, they cannot take that away from him. He has the best overall record of any horse to have won the Blue Diamond, with the exception of Redoute’s Choice, that is set in stone never to be touched. Now in his 19th year Bel Esprit has stood the test of time, he will continue to cover this season, but with maybe limited numbers. He travelled down from Queensland with Love Conquers All, who will also join Sun Stud at Kerrie.
Thronum settles in at Sun StudThronum has settled in well at Sun Stud in readiness for the 2018 breeding season that commences in September. He goes to stud, possibly a little earlier than intended, as he may have struck himself during the running of the Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville, his rider, Tim Clark, used discretion, he eased the horse out of the race soon after. Thronum is a good looking rich bay with a lot of quality about him, he has stacks of necessary speed that is an essential component of the modern day racehorse, there is no place now for one pace horses. He takes up stud duties as a five year old, by the time he reaches ten he will then have two crops on the ground that could be decision time in which direction is taken. With 80 per cent of our racing decided at 1600 metres, or less, there is more options for the sprinter syndicators who love them for the early return and repeat business. Thronum has surely inherited the pace of his sire Snitzel, whose progeny earnings for this season alone exceed $28 million dollars. He is a genuine front running sprinter, he goes to stud having won twice as a two year old, and a further 3 races over 1000 and 1200 metres, making 5 wins in all, which included the Australia Day Stakes Group 2 at Moonee Valley. There is a strong male line to support him, while his dam Helena’s Secret won over 1200 metres in Canada, he has two strains of Danzig, and closely related to Tears I Cry. He is great value at $17,600, he should receive strong patronage, his grand dam is a half sister to Street Cry, the sire of Winx .
