New Sires for Sun Stud
Sun Stud has increased its stallion strength from to 9 to 11 with the inclusion of two new comers this season,[i]National Defense and Thronum.
Both are by million dollar speed sires, Thronum by the leading sire Snitzel, whose progeny earnings for the season stand at $27.128 million, and Natural Defense, he is by Invincible Spirit, sire of I Am Invincible, who has sired winners of $13.919million so far this season.
National Defense is a four year old son of Invincible Spirit, bred in Ireland, sold as a yearling at the Arqana sales in France, for 260,000 Euros.
His dam, Angel Falls by Kingmambo, was unraced, she was a three quarter sister to Anna Palarivra, a half sister to Anna Salai , Iguazu Falls and Advice, all three were winners.
There is a lot of depth in the second remove, with a strong assortment of winners through Anna Palariva, she was by Caerleon, he was hampered with joint problems, he didn’t appear at two.
Anna Palariva won just the two races at 1600 metres, she was a half sister to Anceste, Aachen and Anshaam, she was the dam of 13 foals, 10 raced, 9 were winners.
National Defense was trained by Criquette Head, where training is completed through the forests on manicured tracks at Chantilly.
Whilst he was sparingly raced, having just the five starts, he was only out of a place once, winning twice, one at Group 1 level.
The Group 1 was over 1600 metres at Chantilly, the Prix Jean -Luc Lagasdere, the second win over the same distance at Deauville.
This is a dominant sire line that is achieving great results, it will be no surprise to see it continue.
