Gold Coast National Weanling Sale

May 24—25 With 542 Lots To Be Offered

This is an exciting catalogue with a number of high quality weanlings to be offered, raised on leading stud farms in the Southern Hemisphere.

Pin hookers will be out in force, which makes for keen bidding, it is sure to be a very competitive market over the two days.

Sam Hayes’s Cornerstone Stud will open the sale with the first of the progeny of Valentia, by Fastnet Rock, a lightly raced sire with a lot of potential; this colt is from a dam that has left two winners.

Among the largest drafts is from Aquis Farm at Wonglepong with 35 lots, there is about half a dozen youngsters by Spill The Beans in the draft.

Spill The Beans is a highly promising sire, if Snitzel is going to get a sire son this could be the one, lightly raced, retired at three after 11 runs, winning 5 times and Group 2 successes.

Champion two year old sire, Zoustar, is well represented, as expected, be patient, there are 19 lots and he does leave nice horses.    Headwater is a lovely horse, he is getting his chance, he has to get winners surely, he had heaps of ability and his progeny should develop early, that was the type of horse he was.

Press Statement was only out of a place twice in 11 starts, he won at the highest level, Group1, he was the superior miler, he has a good draft of 21 lots to be offered.

Obviously, breeders are saving their Snitzel’s for the yearling sales next year, as there are just 2 lots in this sale, a colt and a filly.

The colt is from Lady of the Desert, he is Lot 267, the filly, there are a heap of winners in the family, best illustrated by there is just the two dams on the pedigree page, the filly, lot 507, is from Trafalgar, she is a half sister Sizzling.

Yarraman Park will offer eight lots,2 colts by the resident sire Hinchinbrook, he is enjoying a great season, he has 2 lots in the draft of 8, Lot 124, a colt, is from Dashie Diva, a winning mare, she has left 4 foals, all are winners, while Lot 360, from Orabelle, she was a winner and every dam on the page is a winner.

Naturally a lot of interest will centre on the progeny of Spirit of Boom, he has been enjoying an enormous season, he has certainly set the Queensland racing and breeding industry a buzzing, since Bernborough won the Doomben double.
