Dubleo has been relocated from Vinery Stud, to Cangon Stud, at Dungog, this season, a move that will prolong the stallion’s career as a prolific sire of winners.

A son of More Than Ready’s sire Southern Halo, Dubleo was imported to Australia after a successful race career in the U S, where he won 6 races as a juvenile.

A proved turf performer, his career highlights included the Group2 Summer Stakes at Woodbine, and the Group3 Generous Stakes at Hollywood Park, both races are run over 1600 metres on the turf surface.

He retired to stud in 2005; Dubleo soon produced a horse of Stakes quality when his first crop daughter, Dubleanny, won three Stakes races for Vinery and trainer Mick Price.

This success was soon followed by another daughter in Koonoomoo, who won the Group 3 VRC Herald Sun Stakes, at Flemington, on Melbourne Cup day 2012.

At Moonee Valley, on Cox Plate day, the following precocious two year old, Silversands, was another Dubleo filly to notch a feature race, winning on a big stage when taking the rich Inglis Banner over 1000 metres.

With winners of over $8 million in prize money, Dubleo continues to produce winners frequently; in recent weeks he has sired the Moonee Valley winner, Radical, and Rosehill winner, Two Blue, who has since finished a close up second in two listed races in Sydney.

“We are happy to get a horse of Dubleo quality. He fits into our roster very well, he is the perfect horse for those that wish to breed or race. The option, given his ability, is to get a Stakes horse that will produce winners at a regular rate,” said Jock Mackay of Cangon Stud.

Dubleo will stand his season at a service fee of $ 4,400, inc GST.

Vinery, in partnership with the China Horse Club, have acquired a significant interest in the exciting Group1 winning two year old, Press Statement.

The Chris Waller trained colt remained undefeated throughout his two year old season, confirming his class when winning the J J Atkins at his last start with such ease and dominance.

“He is a very talented colt,” said Waller, “He won the Group1 J J Atkins very comfortably, the same race Zoustar and Brazen Beau, who I also trained, both ran second. I believe Press Statement is a better horse now that they were at the same stage, and I think he fits the mould of being a superstar colt.”

Press Statement was bred by the successful and well known racing identity, Tony Muollo, who retained the colt to race with his wife Gianna, and her friends Con and Fotoula Hadjiparaskeua.

They have enjoyed great success on the track to date, with the likes It’s a Dundeel and Pressday.

Press Statement is out of a proven two year old family and is a half brother to Pressday, who was also a Group1 winning two year old of the same race in 2010, when it was named the T J Smith Stakes, Press Statement’s sire, Hinchinbrook, is this year’ leading first season sire and is a three quarter brother to Snitzel.

Press Statement commenced his racing career in April, of this year, with a strong debut win at Canterbury over a sharp 1100 metres, before heading to Rosehill four weeks later with another dominant win over 1350 metres.

This impressive feat prompted Waller to send the talented colt to Queensland for the premier two year old race, the Group 1 J J Atkins Stakes

Travelling comfortably for most of the 1600 metres journey, Press Statement unleashed his quick turn of foot over the last furlong to fulfil the great promise that he had shown in his short career to date, and became a Group 1 winner in just his third start.

“Press Statement is undefeated as a two year old, winning all of his three starts including a Group 1, a great start for any young colt, “ said Vinery Stud’s, Peter Orton.

“It is the potential improvement that we can see in this colt that is most exciting, “he added.

There is no better time of the year for a stallion to be siring winners than at present, with the breeding season less than three months away, mare owners are looking for a sire that fits the bill, one that is getting winners, or a highly promising young sire about to embark on a stud career.

Vinery was well to the fore during last week-end, with four of their popular sires responsible for five winners at four of the major racing venues.

The flagship of Vinery, More Than Ready, has enjoyed another great season, with the exception of Danehill he is the most successful dual hemisphere sire we have known, with progeny earnings exceeding $212 million.

Lockroy, a nicely bred three year old gelding by More Than Ready out of Polar Success, trained by the Hawkes team, turned in an impressive win at Rosehill.

The following race was won by Final Decision, he flew the flag for his sire, Onemorenomore, a son of Red Ransom with a really sound female family to support him.

Husson, who has an unbeaten race record in South America and has topped the juvenile sire’s list in Australia a couple of seasons ago, was firing up with a two state double, Pop’N’ Scotch taking out the Qld.Times Prov. Final at Ipswich, while Husson Eagle took out the A R Creswick Series Heat 4 at Flemington.

Casino Prince, a weight for age success, kept it all in tact when Flying Casino easily scored at Morphettville, he had two and a quarter lengths to spare from his nearest rival, Clarify.

Vinery sires were prominent on Saturday with four winners in three major racing states.

Myboycharlie got the ball rolling, and did it roll, two Group winners at Doomben, it does not get much better than that.

He has been chipping away quite nicely until now; however, Group winners are the pinnacle of what thoroughbred breeding is all about.

Stallions have to earn their stripes with Group winners, which are so important in such a competitive industry, and particularly as the breeding season draws closer.

Blueberry Hill was the first to strike gold for Myboycharlie when she won the Bollinger Champagne Classic Group 2.

She is proving quite a useful two year old having won three of her four starts

Charlie Boy put his best foot forward in winning the Darley BRC Sprint Group 3.

Blueberry Hill and Charlie Boy are bred on an interesting cross, as each is out of a Falbrav mare.

Testa Rossa also sired a winning double in each direction of the continent, Time To Test won the final event at Rosehill, and Dark Alert won the last race at Belmont Park.

Ironically, Testa Rossa has a habit of siring the last winner on a race day program.

Success Express, the sire that found it difficult to find a permanent home until he was located at Vinery, has died peacefully at the age of 30.

He was the superior two year old of his year in the US, winning the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile at Hollywood Park, running a race record when run over 1600 metres.

Success Express had a roundabout career; he never stopped in one place for very long until he settled in at Vinery.

He was imported by the late Robert Holmes a’Court, after a complete change of direction he was sent to Trelawney Stud in New Zealand, where he stood for two seasons.

Soon after he was purchased by successful Queensland breeder, Peter Morgan, he was relocated to Widden spending four years there.

It was then off to Queensland for a stint at Moran’s Noble Park stud, in 1998, before going to Chatswood Stud in Victoria for two years, then moving back to Noble Park for one year.

Finally Success Express found a permanent home at Vinery in 2004, along with his son, Mossman, who has since proved an asset as a sire.

Boasting a career progeny earnings of more than $37 million, with a ratio of winners to runners of over 73 percent, Success Express sired eight individual Group 1winners, including the Golden Slipper success, Polar Success, successful sire son Mossman, New Zealand Oaks winner, Savannah Success, and A J C Champagne winner Quick Star.

He was also sire of dams including three Cox Plate winners Savabeel , Pinker Pinker and Shamus Award.

All that was achieved from an average book of just 66 mares, during his 18 seasons at stud his declining fertility saw him retired from stud duties in 2006.

Success Express was a great character, while he was infertile for quite a few years; he still received the same personal attention and care as the other sires at Vinery.
