A Deserving Win For It Is Written
It Is Written, was rewarded for his consistency, when he finished powerfully to win the Spicer Thoroughbreds Testa Rossa Stakes.
The inform Nick Hall had the gelding racing mid field for much of the race, until it was time to get busy coming to the home turn.
He finished the job off; while he retains his form, and with what we saw on Sunday, he will be back in the winner’s circle shortly.
It Is Written gave his trainer, Robbie Griffiths, his first city winner for the season, that is sure to increase with 55 horses in work, and a number of promising well bred two year olds in the stable, itching to race.
It Is Written wins at Caulfield
“The gelding has enough talent to have a crack at a decent race, yet he is not quite up to the A graders on ratings, being a progressive horse we will just have to take one race at a time,” said his trainer.
He is proving a good money spinner for his connections, winning seven races and returning a cheque 15 times from 24 starts.
It Is Written is by Written Tycoon, a well related sire from a highly respected family, he is doing a fairly good job at stud.

Adelaide Visitor Wins Guineas Prelude
Eclair Big Bang staked his claim as a definite Caulfield Guineas aspirant after winning the Prelude in pretty impressive fashion.
He is an on pace runner as was shown with the win, that is always going to be an advantage, certainly around Caulfield.
While El Roca was carving out a merry dance in front, the riders of, Long John and Charlie Boy, were in dreamland, they were further back than Wonga Pronto.
Long John was never going to win from where he was positioned on the railway side of the track, yet his sectionals in the straight were much better than the first and second horses.
There was quite some discussion in the Darley camp after the race with excuses offered, the simple fact is that Long John should have won beyond question.
He will remain favourite for the Guineas that was the best trial we have seen so far and will remain so as the one $1million semi classic is just two weeks away.

No Decision On Valley Winner
John Thompson is in no hurry to make any decisions in what path he may take with Thump after her easy win in the Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley’s night fixture, last Friday.
The Sydney trained filly was always in control after drawing barrier one, she really gave her opposition the slip once she hit the ground.
Miracles Of Life tried hard to get on terms with the winner, Thump, but to no avail, she was simply out gunned by a better filly on the night.
Whether she has made the natural progression since the autumn is questionable, she was the early precocious filly, the others might now be catching up to her.
Possibly Thump will remain in Melbourne for the present while the trainer looks about for a suitable race around 1200 metres, whether she would get any further is unknown, she was certainly strong enough on the line at Moonee Valley.
Thump is by Red Ransom, about his last crop to race, he was no great shakes himself winning two races from three, and a meagre $34,400 in stakes.
As a sire he was a giant, while standing at Vinery he sired winners of almost $90 million, with 91 Stakes winners, 88 Stakes placings.
Red Ransom proved an outstanding sire, it is now left to his sons to carry on, Charge Forward, Red Dazzler, Onemorenomore, All American, Duporth and Domesday.

Gregers Good Thousand Guineas Trial
Gregers turned in a good trial for the Thousand Guineas in winning the Prelude after drifting noticeably in the betting.
While most of the form was centred around her, it had been at Moonee Valley, which may have been a reason that punters played a little cautiously.
Her run in the Danehill Stakes, at Flemington, was quite good under the circumstances, while she shifted about in running, mainly due to lack of experience on the straight track, and being crowded up by other runners she appeared to be a bit field shy.
Young Chad Schofield gave her a great ride on Saturday, he had her nicely placed all the way, poised to make his assault on the leaders when heads were turned for home.
Gregers, by Commands, earned Black Type for her win in the Prelude, and a Group 1 now beckons if she can win the Thousand Guineas.
The run of second place getter, Marianne, was full of merit, if anything she was taking ground off the winner when the post was reached.
Surprisingly Politeness was sent out favourite after only two wins at the provincials, she ran on fairly but was hardly entitled to start favourite.

Clever Ride Spoilt By Fine
A brilliant winning ride by Glen Boss, on Mr O’Ceirin, to win the Naturalism Stakes, soured for the rider when stewards fined him $ 2,000 for standing up in the irons and saluting after passing the winning post.
Furthermore, he has been warned he will face suspension if there is any repeat of similar incidents.
Glen Boss is a great personality, he is good for racing, however, there is a certain decorum that must be adhered to for safety purposes.
Boss literally pinched the race, he set the tempo at his leisure and almost made a one act event of the race until nearing the home turn when Kesampour threw out a determined challenge, but it was not sustained.
Mr O’Ceirin earned a penalty of half a kg for his win, taking his weight to 53 kg for the Caulfield Cup and is exempt from the ballot, he has also been penalised a half kg for the Melbourne Cup, taking his weight to52.5kg.
His stable mate, Moudre, finished sixth in a race that lacked a lot of pace, he was surely disadvantaged by the lack of a genuinely run race.
The favourite, Pakal, was another not suited by the pace, his chances of running in the Caulfield Cup are fading quickly.
