Zebedee’s impressive Winner

Luff is among the first crop sired here by Zebedee in Australia, he gave his rivals a short back and sides in winning at Muswellbrook last week.

The win was no fluke, he had his rivals well off the bit, when heads were turned for home he ran the final 600 metres in 33.4 seconds.

On that performance he is a likely candidate for his next start in Sydney, he is a very promising horse.

Zebedee is a champion sire, he averages 30 two year old winners a year in Europe, he is by Invincible Spirit, the same sire as I Am Invincible, the leading sire standing at Yarraman Park.

“I am delighted to see his luck change,”chirped a delighted Sam Hayes, that said, there was certainly a sense of divination about Luff winning, as the 2nd dam is by Jeune, the 3th dam by Bluebird and the 4th Without Fear, all stallions that flew the flag for the family in the years gone by,” said Sam Hayes.

Luff was bred and sold by Two Bays Farm in Victoria, and up and coming nursery presented the colt at the Melbourne Sale.

“More so than anything else this win cements my belief in finding stallions that offer a successful outcross to Danehill."

Zebedee is entering into his 5th season and standing at a modest fee of $9,900, for a proved son of Invincible Spirit.

Sam Hayes and the Cornerstone team are keen to address the ground swell of despondency from breeders wanting to use proven stallions but are being priced out of commercial ventures, with service fees that are too steep.

“We are keen to discuss your mating options for the coming breeding season, and please make use of my team to help the most of your thoroughbred investments, “said Sam Hayes

Fillies Fly Flag

Fillies Fly Flag For Sir

     Prancealot

From humble beginnings, and lowly expectations, has risen a stallion that is beginning to take on a set of dimensions that are truly ground breaking.

Retiring to stud in 2013, Sir Prancealot came to prominence by taking out the Leading First Sire’s title in Great Britain and Ireland.

His crop is now delivering a set that are truly exceptional, from 105 foals Sir Prancealot has produced 63 winners from 91 runners (70%), and Stakes winners to runners ratio of an elite 7%.

Of those Stakes winners Beau Recall landed her second Grade 2 with a win in the Distaff Turf Mile in the race that followed the Kentucky Derby.

The stone cold ride by Irad Ortix Jnr gave her rivals windburn in the final furlong, and it felt a future Grade 1 win is on the cards this season.

On the same day, but on the California turf at Santa Anita, Lady Prancealot almost landed her first Graded victory, with a second in the Grade 3 Senorita Stakes.

This performance followed hot on the heels of Ginger Nut’s Listed win in April, that is delivering Sir Prancealot with a 2.7 AEI .

An enormous return on investment for those that believed in this Danzig with pre-potent genetics.

Offering similar Turf characteristics to Australia, Sir Prancealot’s U S Statistics read as 11 runners, 8 winners, 5 Stakes Performers and 3 Stakes winners.

Cornerstone will be offering two Sir Prancealot weanlings at the Magic Millions and 13, a baker’s dozen at the Great Southern Sale

New Face at Cornerstone

Sam Pritchard Gordon is the new face at Sam Hayes Cornerstone Stud; he comes with a wealth of experience, and personality to match.

The two Sams have been good friends for a long period of time, both with the same common interest, horses.

Both met up again in January when Sam Hayes offered his friend a position at the stud, renewing their friendship, and more importantly, sharing the work load, creating a new position, the relationship, which will advantage both parties, and the welfare of Cornerstone Stud, the largest thoroughbred stud farm in South Australia.

Sam Pritchard Gordon will take care of the marketing and sales, he will liaison with clients to ensure both parties have a good relationship, and the mating of their mares to the suitable stallions, making sure the stud’s clients are receiving the best price for their horses, and the correct information they are entitled to.

Marketing is an important issue, clients in some cases need advice, they may be first time owners, first impressions are very important, a fresh smile and a firm shake of the hand give’s one confidence

Sam has those qualities, he was born and raised in Newmarket UK, he has been involved with some of the major studs, and leading stables, before coming to Australia seventeen years ago.

He was top man with Lee Freedman before Freedman left for Singapore, there was also a stint with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, and he also trained for a time at Mornington.

Sam is settling back into the bloodstock industry at a time when then the industry is booming, it is as solid as The Rock of Gibraltar when yearlings are being purchased for millions of dollars.
