Star Turn Joins Vinery
Star Turn is the latest edition to join the stallion ranks at Vinery a brilliant three year old with an explosive turn of foot that was clearly demonstrated in his swan song in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.
He was not over burdened with racing having just the 12 starts winning three times and only out of a place three times.
There no question about his physique he is a high quality thoroughbred a striking chestnut beautifully marked he is a real eye catcher.
He looks certain to get quality horses that should be well endowed with pace to compliment his foals both sides of his pedigree is well endowed with speed.
His sire Star Witness came under notice when he won the Goup1 Blue Diamond Stakes and just to prove it was no fluke he also won the Talindert Stakes in that autumn.
From there he won Group 1 Ascot Vale Stakes he was already the potential champion sprinting sire that was endorsed when he went to the UK his mission was Royal Ascot for the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes where he finished second to Prohibit and then third to Society Rock four days later in the Golden Jubilee Stakes.
Star Witness is already a proven success at stud in 2016 his yearlings fetched up to $750k, $300k, $210k, $200k he was Australia’s leading second season sire.
His son Star Turn is entitled to the same opportunities and he no doubt will receive them at Vinery among the major studs in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales.
Star Turn is out of excellent mare his dam Golden Delicious was a smart two year old winning four races over 1000 and 1200 metres in all she won a further nine times she was clearly among the best mares of her generation in Perth.
She was not only a very smart race mare winning 13 races she prove a dual purpose mare she produced five foals four raced all were winners.
The second dam Barossa Gourmet by Pre Emptive Strike, proved a useful mare winning six races and produced six foals to race four were winners.
