Vinery’s Open Day
Breeders and horse lovers were in for a treat at Vinery’s Open Day, with the junior brigade almost stealing the show.
Both the first seasons’ sires, Press Statement and Headwater, are well prepared for what promises to be an excellent season.
Each horse has been given adequate time to let down, nothing is ever rushed at Vinery; they do it all so well.
Press Statement looked sensational; he has made into a magnificent stallion, a horse with a touch of class, an intelligent head, a deep shoulder, and well rounded hind quarters.
He is the real deal, and the all important factor, he is going to get the opportunity that he so richly deserves.
Press Statement and Headwater were well received by broodmares owners, while trainers, Chris Waller and Michael Hawkes, were on hand to add special comments, with M C, Adam White.
Champion jockey Hugh Bowman took the opportunity to get reacquainted with Press Statement, they combined to win the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes and the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes.
“This horse is a star, “Bowman said, “I had to ride him out of his comfort zone in the Caulfield Guineas, but his class came through, “he added.
Michael Hawkes was complimentary towards Headwater; he had shown ability from the outset. “He was never out of second gear first up at Moonee Valley, he was a real professional and has got a speed on speed in his pedigree,” he said.
