Press Statement & Headwater join Vinery

Press Statement, winner of last year’s Caulfield Guineas, has joined the sire’s roster at the leading farm, Vinery, in the lush Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

He now goes to stud with that Group 1 label, with the merit of excellence a stud career now awaits.

He is going to Vinery where he will receive every chance; the quality of mares he will receive certainly ensure his success as a sire.

He won six races to 1600 metres, with the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas included, the J J Atkins Group 1, the Hobartville Stakes Group 2, and the Stan Fox Stakes.

His dam, Kaaptive Empress, by Kaaptive Edition, has won nine races to a mile, from her seven foals to race four have been winners, including Pressday.

Headwater by Exceed And Excel

Headwater gave a great sight at his first win when he spread eagled a field over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley.

He is by Exceed And Excel, a splendid racehorse and a champion sire, and a sire of sires, evidenced by the success of Reward For Effort.

His dam, Red Dove, by Red Ransom, proved a handy mare, she won over 1000 metres and her dam, Ladybird Blue, by Bluebird, was more than handy, she won three races and was an excellent producer. Heart of Dreams and Rightfully Yours, are full relations, were prominent winners of this family.

Headwater is really a lovely horse, there is a lot of quality about him, he is a stunning looking horse, the quality of his foals will be interesting .
