Buffering Wins For Australia
Buffering won the hearts of all Australian race fans, after what could only be described as an outstanding performance on the world stage, in winning the Al Quaz Sprint in Dubai.
He had worked well on the Meydan track leading into the race, and the confidence grew with each day that followed.
His trainer, Robert Heathcote, was confident that Buffering was peaking at the right time, the signs were there, the gelding was spot on ready to run the race of his life.
That was his 7th Group 1 success, a typically tough performance; the margin was a half length against a talented group of class sprinters.
His next assignment is Hong Kong for the Chairman’s Sprint, where he is likely to face Chautauqua, who is coming off a brilliant win in the T J Smith Stakes, at Royal Randwick last Saturday.
Royal Ascot is also begging, but whether he goes to the UK is doubtful, there is no point in taking a gelding to Royal Ascot, or a mare for that matter, it is an expensive exercise with really little to gain, it only suits an entire, should he win either of the sprint races, he could be accepted as a shuttle sire to a English Stud.
Whilst Buffering has had an outstanding career to date, at least his sire, Mossman, is fully entitled to some recognition, so often the sire is ignored.
Mossman now in his 21st year, he has sired six individual Group1 winners, with his yearlings selling up to $200,000 last year, with his progeny earnings to date of $50.946 million.
Mossman is showing potential as a sire of sires, his son, Love Conquers All, is well entrenched on the sire’s list, with one crop to race.
