Spring Has Sprung At Vinery
Leading New South Wales stud Vinery, home to All Too Hard, is enjoying a marvellous season with six of its sires figuring prominently among the winners over the past two weeks.
The success rate has seen extraordinary results, it could not have been better with all the big guns firing.
Reigning champion sire, More Than Ready, with progeny earnings of nearly $113 million to his credit, had to vacate centre stage, at least for the present, in preference to his stud mate Mossman.
The success rate of Mossman over the spring has been overwhelming, with Buffering leading the way with his win in the $1 million Manikato Stakes, followed by the $1 million V R C Sprint Classic, and today he faces up to the half million dollar Winterbottam Stakes in Perth.
Six sires achieving the ultimate over the spring is an outstanding performance in such a highly competitive industry as thoroughbred horse breeding.
Mossman formerly stood in Queensland where he met with little patronage, since going to Vinery, under astute management he has found his niche, his recent spate of winners has been nothing short of sensational.
Among his other winners were Dothraki, Plucky Belle, Absalo, Mossego and Mossmoney.
More Than Read, the flagship of the team has been well represented, Better Than Ready, Get Pronto, Red Hanks, Idle Chat and Galway Warrior, all in the winner’s circle.
Heart Testa, at Rosehill and Testamezzo in Adelaide, have both increased the winning numbers for the evergreen Testa Rossa.
Last start Flemington winner, Longport, gets her chance to increase the success rate of her sire, Casino Prince when she faces the starter in the $1 million Railway Stakes in Perth later today.
Sires Produce Stakes winner, Excites, claims attention with Excites Zelady, Schmacher and Sistine Demon, while Myboycharlie is a late inclusion, with Artistic Lass winning at Canterbury during the week.
