Sydneysider Takes Out Diamond
Sydney trained colt, Pride Of Dubai, atoned for his last start narrow defeat in winning the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes.
He was just the second maiden to win the prestigious two year old event, the previous maiden winner was Principality, trained by David Hayes back in 1995, when the stake was half a million dollars.
The form line through both colts was quite similar, Pride Of Dubai had not finished out of a place, nor had Principality.
It was a big occasion for the training partnership formed between Peter Snowden and his son Paul; they have now been associated with two previous winners, in Earthquake last year and Sepoy in 2011.
Whilst Pride Of Dubai went into the race as a maiden, he looked to have stacks of potential when running second to Of The Brave in the shorter Prelude.

He was the one that was going to appreciate the additional extra distance, as was proven.
Paul Snowden declared he would win the Blue Diamond after his impressive run when running second in the Prelude.
“We were confident he was going to get better with racing, he is really on his way now.”
“He always showed so much talent, he was flattened at one stage and to pick himself up, it was a brave effort, “said Paul Snowden.
The favourite, Fontiton, was a beaten horse on the turn, she only struggled thereafter.
