There were smiles all round in the winner’s circle after the photo finish result, when Shockemohle’s number appeared on the infield semaphore board, as the winner of the Sportingbet Hanndicap.

“We have this one alright,” said Brett Scott, after being involved in a close finish in an earlier race on the program.

The race was marred by a nasty fall when Massiyn, the imported horse, suffered a heart attack, flinging his rider, Thomas Sadler, into a mass of flaying hooves.

Fortunately Sadler was not seriously injured, he was on the side of luck, he will be back riding within a few days.

The winner, Schockemohle, turned in a nice performance; he has improved greatly since his last run at Werribee.

His trainer, Brett Scott, will look at similar races now for the gelding; however, he may have to step up in class if his connections are looking for the same odds.
