Roller Coaster Continues For Hawkes
The Hawkes team are really firing at present; the stable is having a great run, their latest winner, Hebrung, turned in a nice race to score in the RSL Plate at Flemington yesterday.
He was first up after a break having finished fifth in a field of nine at Rosehill in early November.
There are still quite a number of nice races about that would suit him before the winter sets in and the tracks become heavy.
Whilst the winning margin was just a half head he was beginning to draw away, had the distance been much further the winning margin would have been greater when the post was reached.
The win reignited the previous successful trainer combination of the Hawkes training partnership and Dwayne Dunn, he has gone missing for a few months convalescing from a shoulder injury, he is back riding as well as ever.
Hebrung was specked a nice odds, whilst I Love It remained favourite throughout betting but didn’t do all that much in running.
Former boom two year old, Clevadude, showed a little pace for a short while but went missing when it was required to put in the hard yards.
