Clever Ride Spoilt By Fine

A brilliant winning ride by Glen Boss, on Mr O’Ceirin, to win the Naturalism Stakes, soured for the rider when stewards fined him $ 2,000 for standing up in the irons and saluting after passing the winning post.

Furthermore, he has been warned he will face suspension if there is any repeat of similar incidents.

Glen Boss is a great personality, he is good for racing, however, there is a certain decorum that must be adhered to for safety purposes.

Boss literally pinched the race, he set the tempo at his leisure and almost made a one act event of the race until nearing the home turn when Kesampour threw out a determined challenge, but it was not sustained.

Mr O’Ceirin earned a penalty of half a kg for his win, taking his weight to 53 kg for the Caulfield Cup and is exempt from the ballot, he has also been penalised a half kg for the Melbourne Cup, taking his weight to52.5kg.

His stable mate, Moudre, finished sixth in a race that lacked a lot of pace, he was surely disadvantaged by the lack of a genuinely run race.

The favourite, Pakal, was another not suited by the pace, his chances of running in the Caulfield Cup are fading quickly.
